The Adventure Begins
Wild Warriors is an exciting, active adventure club born from our love of the great outdoors. Incorporating fun forest school activities and play we want to share our energy and knowledge to encourage, inspire and continue learning with the next generation of explorers, medics, creatives, teachers, conservationists, adventurers…. Getting children outside simply helps everyone to think outside of the box and creates more challenge, builds resilience and confidence for all, which equips you so well for life in general.
Children love to be outside, they come alive and are ready to learn, explore and create. Their imagination, curiosity and enthusiasm for life should be encouraged and nurtured so they can dream big and grow up knowing which direction in life they would like to take.
In a bid to further inspire children to love the great outdoors and prove that there is no such thing as bad weather just the wrong kit, as a team of parents, we set off on our mission. Initially Wenn Warriors was an after school club which continued each week come rain or shine and we introduced children to an array of sports and outdoor activities inclusive to all. The school then got on board and put on an amazing sports programme for the children so we channelled our energies and the club evolved into wide games, fun challenges, play and assault courses!
The Wild Team
Inspired by the children loving their outdoor education Jenny (an amazing energetic back flipping supermum with her outdoor leader background) and I (gregarious mum Buffy with a background in events, catering and wild feasts) enrolled onto a Forest School Leader Course at Newquay Forest School… We threw all these skills and a few ideas into a pot and out came Wild Warriors!
As part of our qualification we had to run sessions with a group of children. Our Cornish School is brilliant and as the younger children already do Forest School sessions within their school week we asked that the older years get the opportunity to work with us. We took years 3 and 4 outside for a weekly morning session for the initial six weeks and as the children were so enthused by their sessions we were asked to continue them. Soon years 5 and 6 were on board too. We run sporadic lunchtime clubs so that the older years can cook their lunch on an open fire as a treat and have had a great response from our Wild Warrior summer club. The whole school now has a pair of welly boots at the ready… something that we feel all schools should embrace and so our mission continues….
